Direct Answer
Check your IEEPA tariff refund status in the ACE Secure Data Portal at cbp.gov. Navigate to the CAPE tab, then CAPE Claim Status. Select your Declaration number to see file validation results, entry-level validation results, approved refund amounts, and disbursement status. If you used a licensed broker to file, ask them to pull your CAPE Claim Status on your behalf.
The Supreme Court’s February 20, 2026 ruling in Learning Resources v. Trump opened $166 billion in IEEPA refunds for 330,000 importers of record (the IOR named on CBP Form 7501) across 53 million entry summaries. As of June 29, 2026, $71.06 billion has been certified and sent to Treasury through CBP’s CAPE system (Phase 1, Phase 2, and Phase 3), with statutory interest accruing at approximately $650 million per month under 19 U.S.C. § 1505.
Checking Your IEEPA Refund Status in ACE
How do I check my IEEPA tariff refund status?
Step 1
Log Into ACE Secure Data Portal
Go to cbp.gov and navigate to the ACE Secure Data Portal. Log in using your IOR credentials. If you have not logged in for 45 days, your account may require reactivation — contact CBP ACE support. If your licensed broker filed on your behalf, contact them to pull your CAPE Claim Status, since the Declaration is associated with their filer account.
Step 2
Navigate to the CAPE Tab
Once logged into ACE, navigate to the CAPE tab in your account dashboard. The CAPE tab is available in Importer, Organizational Broker, and Filer sub-accounts. If you do not see the CAPE tab, confirm your account type has the correct permissions — contact CBP ACE support if needed.
Step 3
Find Your CAPE Claim Status
In the CAPE tab, locate the CAPE Claim Status section. Select your Declaration number from the list. The status view shows: file upload status (accepted or rejected), total entries submitted, entries accepted, entries rejected, approved refund amount (principal), interest amount, and disbursement status.
Step 4
Download Your Validation Result File
If any entries were rejected, download the Validation Result File associated with your Declaration. This file identifies the specific rejection reason for each failed entry number — allowing you to correct the issue and resubmit in a new Declaration. Common rejection reasons: no qualifying Chapter 99 HTS code, duplicate entry number, ineligible entry type.
Step 5
Track Treasury Disbursement
Once entries are reliquidated and refunds are certified by CBP, Treasury issues ACH payments. The ACE CAPE dashboard shows when refunds have been certified and transmitted to Treasury. Actual ACH receipt in your bank account occurs after Treasury processing — typically 60–90 days total from Declaration validation. If your refund shows as certified and you have not received payment after 90 days, verify your ACH banking information in ACE immediately.
Step 6
What to Do If You Are Still Waiting
If your CAPE Declaration was validated weeks ago but you have not received payment: (1) confirm your ACH banking information is enrolled and current in ACE — 8,384 certified refunds are stuck at Treasury for this exact reason; (2) confirm your refund is in Treasury's disbursement queue by checking CAPE Claim Status for the disbursement status field; (3) contact CBP's CAPE help desk if the status shows errors or stalls.
Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
How long after filing does CAPE status update?
File-level validation results typically appear within minutes to hours of upload. Entry-level validation and reliquidation may take days to weeks depending on entry volume. Treasury ACH disbursement follows reliquidation by additional weeks.
Can I check my status without an ACE account?
If your broker filed on your behalf, ask them to check CAPE Claim Status and provide you with a status report. CBP does not have a public-facing refund status tracker — status is only available within ACE.
My status shows 'certified' but I haven't received payment. What do I do?
Verify your ACH banking information is enrolled and current in ACE. As of June 29, 2026, 8,384 certified refunds are stuck at Treasury solely because the importer never provided banking information. This is the most common cause of payment delays after certification.
My entries were rejected in CAPE. Can I resubmit?
Yes. Rejected entries can be corrected and resubmitted in a new CAPE Declaration. Download the Validation Result File to identify the specific rejection reason. The most common fixable issues are missing Chapter 99 codes (may require a Post-Summary Correction) and incorrect entry types.
⚠️
Note: CBP does not send automatic notifications when your CAPE refund is processed or paid. Proactive monitoring of your CAPE Claim Status in ACE and your bank account is the importer's responsibility.
